Potting Shed Inspiration

As previously mentioned, I have a potting shed day dream in which I idle away hours in my gum boots and straw hat, drinking tea and planting seeds in my accidentally-fabulously-styled potting shed. However, our current garden shed is full of my husbands tools, a rather protective huntsman spider and at least one snake sighting. And my efforts of a deck full of potted plants has been thwarted by the children - in particular a baby who throws fist-fulls of soil from the pots at every opportunity, and a toddler who shall remain nameless who 'watered' a blueberry plant with bubble mixture... (Alas, it never recovered from the shock.)

So rather than fight my current reality, a little Pinterest escapism allows me to imagine my dream she-shed, full of tasteful terracotta pots, delightfully aged watering cans, trusty balls of artfully placed twine and whimsical trowel door handles.

Yes, yes. If you need me, I will be pottering around Pinterest for the next little while...

Winter 2015 Look Book

How gradually my little business has evolved. I hadn't imagined at University that I would one day be my own boss and work from home around my children. I didn't think as an apprentice that I would ever stop working for others. I couldn't have imagined how the internet would allow me to share my work with my tribe and create pieces for the special moments in their lives. But little by little I have been building, creating, learning, investing and making, in order to grow a seed of a dream in to a reality.

And now I am one step closer to a bigger dream, as I share with you images from my first ever photo shoot and my very first Look Book. I am so excited about these images! It's wonderful to see the ideas I sketched on paper and then brought to life in metal, being worn and so beautifully photographed. It feels like quite the achievement for this independent jeweller and small business owner, let me tell you. The images just seem so 'me' and so in tune with my brand. I love that Trudi and Harriet were able to interpret my vision. I am thrilled and I would love for you to take a look and share your thoughts with me.

And if I could be so bold, perhaps you could share the Pinterest pin of my Look Book too?

Many thanks!

xx

Pinteresting Whites

Pretty and interesting Pinterest finds
Inspirations i vitt, Healthy Homesteading, patheos

Oh, the subtlety and beauty of whites and pastels. The texture, opacity, softness and shine. It's something I have appreciated more and more as I have gotten older. Some people are drawn to bright colours, while I am drawn to images like these.

My rule with home wares, if in doubt about colour choice, buy it in white.

Do you have a go to colour?

Damn Cute DIY's

A curated collection of cuteness I found while rambling around Pinterest. There are so many talented and creative people out there making such sweet and fun projects. That Dandelion paperweight has just gone straight to the top of my to-make list! I have resin and dandelions, time to find a vending machine for the 'mould'...

What's on your to-make list?

Celebrating Beauty

A cool over cast morning and a cup of tea and a sleeping babe make for a lovely moment too dive in to Pinterest and potter about from one page to another, absorbing the visual feast that is available and pinning those pieces that make my heart flutter. It's a wonderful way to discover new artists and click your way to their portfolio and explore their work. Each of these jewellers has such a strong and cohesive sense of style, so I like to call such internet wanderings 'research' rather than just 'play' or 'procrastination'.

I like to think of all the hours of work that went in to each piece, and all the hours before that learning and practicing. I like to think about the materials, how they were sourced, the techniques the maker employed on them, the value or lack of value in an item before they incorporated it in to their work. And I like to think about some one owning each piece, wearing it and loving it, like a visual extension of self - for don't we want the jewellery we wear to say something about ourselves? Perhaps that we have simple tastes? Perhaps that we have wealth? Perhaps that we support handmade?

Or perhaps just that we celebrate beauty where ever we find it.

Crochet Rocks

Pin-spiration for your Tuesday.

Crochet Rocks
Images found on Pinterest L-R: Lucky You Handmade, Patchwork Stones, Crochet Rocks,
Margaret Oomen (with tutorial), Life is a garden, zero calorie macaroons,
Delicate but strong, Monicaj, Rock Covers.

Crochet covered rocks are something I have long wanted to try. I love the delicate look of the cotton against the texture and mass of the stone. So many clever crafters have expressed their creativity and skill with this artfully simple concept, creating objects of beauty.

I think it's about time I kept my eye out for some interesting pebbles.

Autumn Inspiration

There is a loveliness about Autumn to which the other seasons can not compare. The cool mornings, warm days, dappled sunshine, cozy blanketed nights. The allure to read, knit, write, walk. The warm tones of fallen leaves, tweed, yarn and baked goods. I couldn't resist putting together a collection of images to inspire me these coming months. After a particularly hot Summer, I am welcoming each small sign of the change of season.

A shot of talent, beauty and inspiration this lovely Tuesday. These good things were gathered from my Pinterest feed. I quite like Pinterest, though I do find it a bit of a visual over load at times. I like to just dip in to it every now and then, resurfacing with gems like these.
