Oh, the subtlety and beauty of whites and pastels. The texture, opacity, softness and shine. It's something I have appreciated more and more as I have gotten older. Some people are drawn to bright colours, while I am drawn to images like these.

My rule with home wares, if in doubt about colour choice, buy it in white.

Autumn Inspiration

There is a loveliness about Autumn to which the other seasons can not compare. The cool mornings, warm days, dappled sunshine, cozy blanketed nights. The allure to read, knit, write, walk. The warm tones of fallen leaves, tweed, yarn and baked goods. I couldn't resist putting together a collection of images to inspire me these coming months. After a particularly hot Summer, I am welcoming each small sign of the change of season.

I'm so grateful to have this blog as a way of documenting our year. From the little ordinary moments, to those of a larger scale. From charting our progress selling our house and then renovating, to watching Cohen and the bump grow, or sharing the excitement of my sisters wedding. All that I have made, moments I have captured, thoughts that I have shared. I have these 284 posts to look back over at the way we lived our days in 2011. And so many reasons to be grateful.

So here's to a wonderful 2012.

Crochet baby sweater inspiration...

I have spent way too much time this morning enjoyably browsing Ravelry and Flickr for baby sweater patterns. I have plans to crochet a tiny, warm little cardigan as a gift for a dear friend who is expecting. This has also resulted in a little bit of online wool shopping... 

I am still enjoying crocheting the hexagon blanket, which is growing bit by bit and of which I am still endeavoring not to share too many photo updates of, else this blog become a painful blow by blow description of the biggest project I have ever undertaken. But it will be nice to have a few more little projects to work on depending on my mood.
