I hadn't realised how important friendships with other mothers with children around Cohen's age would be. I hadn't realised that those friendships could be sparked by that common element, but develop over coffee, cake and trips to the park, into a true friendship that is supportive, sympathetic and humorous. I hadn't realised until I had those friendships how difficult it had been at times mothering without out them.
