A pincushion story

+

+

I brought my favourite pincushion from Tiny Happy three years ago. Hand embroidered linen, vintage floral backing and ric-rac. I love Melissa's work. That beautiful pincushion lived on my sewing table. Over Easter it fell victim to my sister's dog, Angel. From floor, to lounge, to table she climbed, and took only the pincushion. Despite the fact it was full of pins, the dear old staffy nibbled the back open and ruined the front. A trail of stuffing lead me to the discovery.

Unbeknownst to me, Fiona contacted Melissa from Tiny Happy and explained the situation. Yesterday a very special little something came in the mail from Angel, Fiona and Melissa.

A pretty special pincushion I think.

I couldn't resist this dear little pincushion, from Melissa's tiny happy shop. Such lovely stitching and perfect vintage ric-rac don't you think? A packet of vintage hand sewing needles and embroidery thread accompanied the tansy pincushion on it's trip from New Zealand.
Thank you so much Melissa, I love it.

Also, the lovely Kitty is giving away twelve vintage sheet fat quarters over here. Be quick, the giveaway ends tomorrow.

Pincushion swap....

Finished and and in the post.
With some fabric and buttons to keep this little pear company.
Hope my partner likes it!
Thanks Kate for the swapping chance.
PS. I have joined Sarah's Great Apron Swap. The more the merrier I say. Don't you just love a good swap?

My Creative Space...

The cot blanket is a few nights on the lounge away from completion and I have been working on my pincushion for Kate's pincushion swap.
I upended the bag of fabric scraps from Jennifer and started cutting. Although rather than just cutting out the four pieces necessary for my pin cushion, I ended up with, oh, about 28 of those pear quarters in a pile. I just kept on finding more and more sweet fabric scraps of perfect size and kept on cutting. There is now a pile of pears parts waiting to be sewn up and have some finishing touches added...
Thank you for your comments about my lovely father in law, who is home from the hospital and recovering. Your kind words and thoughts mean so much.

Thank you Miss Emma Lamb...

Recently I was the very lucky winner of Emma's pincushion giveaway.
And just look at those extra goodies she sent in the package!
Emma took much nicer photos of Phyllis than I have... isn't she lovely?
(Both Emma and Phyllis.)
