Weekending

1. I'm over half way now on Emerson's Camilla Blanket and I am still in love with knitting it. It is my biggest project to date and I was worried I would fall out of love with it along the way. So far so good. I love watching those fans forming. The nights are getting cooler now and I hope she'll be using it by Winter.

2. We've had a week of rain, with another week forecast. There has been Lego, play dough and balloons to keep a certain boy amused, as well as rain coat and gum boot jaunts in the garden.

3. We visited the Qld Art Gallery and the Museum yesterday. Another perfect rainy day activity. I brought this $10 print home with me from the gallery store. Cheap, beautiful art. (The framed picture in photo 2 is another gallery store purchase.)

4. My cheeky little laundry helpers, who played 'throw the cloth nappies at Mama' and rolled around laughing.

5. My veggie-store-brought sweet potatoes sprouted, so I'm growing slips from them. I recently harvested my first sweet potatoes from the garden and I'm hoping for an even bigger harvest next time!

6. Cut flowers from the garden. My dream of filling the house with flowers I've grown is slowly becoming a reality.

7. And they smell amazing.

8. These delightful roses change from pink, to peach, to yellow as they open.

My second eye surgery is today. Hopefully I will be able to be back in this space in a couple of days. In the meantime take care.

35 weeks

I've been listening to my body and having as many quiet days as I can lately. Resting my bump and my back, and putting my feet up while I still have the chance. I could surely get used to quiet days like today.

Croissants for breakfast. Walking in the rain in our gumboots and raincoats. Examining each new mushroom discovery with Cohen. Making collages together. Knitting and watching movies with Dave while the little man napped and the rain fell. Catching up with my brother.

A wonderful Sunday indeed, though I am missing my dear sister. Two more weeks before she flies home. Then Cohen and I will be hot on her heels for a catch up before the baby comes. One can never underestimate the bond between identical twins.

Here's to a wonderful week ahead.

Little discoveries made while walking around the neighborhood.

Cohen has learnt how to splish splash through puddles in his shiny black gum boots. A bewildered look gave way to pure joy once he realised that we were encouraging him to stomp and jump through each puddle that he found. We followed a well worn path through a clearing of long grass and lost sight of all but Cohen's head when he discovered a very deep puddle indeed. The gum boots were overwhelmed.

I think this tree full of berries is announcing Christmas.

An old embroidered cushion cover, once belonging to my Grandmother. Found amongst my vintage doilies while I was looking for something else. A happy surprise.
Filled with hobby fill and now the perfect cushion for snuggling into, while reading in bed, on another rainy day.

The little man decided that he would carry the umbrella when we walked to the river. So much to see after a few days rain. And an umbrella is a fun new toy when your not yet two years old.

The first thunder storm of the season yesterday. The clouds rolled over so darkly that afternoon turned night, while the wind blew through our front door. Cohen and I settled in for some cooking and quiet time.
Today I am looking forward to my Mother and sister coming for lunch.

Loving Summer...

Loving the rain and the cooler change in the weather. Just what I had hoped for, though still not quite cool enough for the throw to be draped over legs and snuggled into.
Still loving this shawl and thinking about making another attempt at crocheting one for myself.
Loving Kylie's inspirations and cool plates.
Loving friends coming for dinner and setting the table with the good stuff.
What are you loving?
